Generally, the grid parameters which are used to define the SFH are not particularly meaningful. For example, the 'age' parameter is the elapsed time since the birth of the very first star. This quantity is, in theory, impossible to measure; the only reason it looks like a well constrained quantity with standard fit setups is because most SFH parametrizations are quite rigid and will not explore a large enough variety of SFHs. Likewise, the 'tau' parameter in exponentially-declining SFHs is only meaningful in the case where the galaxy's true SFH is indeed an exponential. If not, interpreting this value becomes difficult.
